Read on to learn all about the gold-standard in cruelty-free.
What is the Leaping Bunny program?
The Leaping Bunny Program is operated by eight national animal protection groups and helps connect shoppers with companies that never test on animals. Companies and products that meet the Leaping Bunny standards are awarded the Leaping Bunny logo, the most trusted certification for cruelty-free products. When you spot the Leaping Bunny logo on anything from dish detergent to your signature scent, you can be sure neither the product nor any of its ingredients have been tested on animals.
Don’t all companies avoid animal testing?
Sadly not. Federal laws in the United States don’t protect all animals from the cruelty of being tested on. Even under testing bans, certain legislative loopholes mean companies can still test on animals.
What does Leaping Bunny certification mean?
Leaping Bunny certification goes beyond current laws. To become Leaping Bunny certified, companies must stick to a cut-off date after which they and their supplies must stop animal testing, set up a Supplier Monitoring System that’s open to independent audits, and renew their commitment to the Leaping Bunny program every year.
Why is it necessary?
Leaping Bunny certification makes shopping ethically in a confusing marketplace much easier. Companies can make cruelty-free claims without these being verified by animal protection groups, and these can often be misleading. For example, a company could state they don’t test on animals themselves while contracting another company to do so.
