Lights Out for Earth Hour

Lights Out for Earth Hour

This Saturday, March 28th, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is holding its annual Earth Hour, in which it encourages everyone across the globe to shut off their lights for sixty minutes. This hour in darkness symbolizes our collective commitment to the planet. Earth Hour engages more than 180 countries and territories and millions of people, and has since acted as a catalyst for a positive impact on the environment. CLEAN fully supports this mission, as it speaks to the sustainable principles we live by every day.

Due to COVID-19 and the immense health crisis at hand, WWF is encouraging all to participate virtually, and join one of their livestreams.

Here are ways we can support Earth Hour this year:

1. Candle Hour

If turning off your lights for an hour is not a stressful activity for you, you can participate in that way. From 8:30-9:30pm your local time, switch off the lights. Spark up some CLEAN SPACE candles or string up twinkle lights and create a cozy atmosphere to read, play board games or binge your Netflix queue.

2. Join The Digital Cause

Earth Hour will have several live streams with activations from all over, so you won’t miss out if you can’t turn your lights out. You’ll get to see how others are participating and join a strong  community that cares. Check back on Earth Hour’s site soon for more information.

3. Use Your Voice

Sign Earth Hour’s “Voice for the Planet” petition. Your digital signature will be used to tell world leaders that you deeply care about nature and demand immediate action to protect the environment. Earth Hour’s petition will be presented at critical global conferences throughout 2020.
